Flip Flops won’t break me… July 29, 2009

As all of you know that I wore flip flops to Piedmont Park on Saturday for our PT test. I just got back from the Bahamas & thought my shoes were left in the car. I didn’t realize it until after I arrived at the park. I couldn’t go home so I decided that I wasn’t going to let my flip flops stop me from this challenge. I did ok with the 1mile run (I finished) but I didn’t beat my last time. I’m still very encouraged and I appreciate all of the OBC personal trainers for motivating me. I also want to thank this group of challengers. You all are awesome!! I couldn’t have imagined we all would encourage each other the way we have. I want to thank all of you. Last but not least I want to thank Brandi. She’s not just there to schedule these events but she’s actually a part of this group. I’ve watched as she cheered everyone on and encouged us to continue with our goals. Thanks everyone & Brandi.

I really enjoyed seeing everyone on Saturday. I came there thing it would be the same workout & wasn’t really looking forward to it. I wasn’t really excited but in need of the motivation of the instructor and you guys. When we were asked to get a exercise ball I had no idea what I was in for. I’d used the ball before but not like this. I never thought I could do all the exercises that we did on this ball. The tradional exercises that we did while growing up was remixed into a invigorating workout. I’m going to buy another ball, the first one I bought less than 1 year ago is still in the box & somewhere in storage. I’m also gonna try to workout again with Reggie at least once a week. I hadn’t sweated like that in that short period of a time in a long time. I loved his energy and patience to showing us the correct way the exercise is done. He said something that really got my attention. Being that I’m fatigued a lot I sometimes give up or don’t push myself. But when he said that it starts in your mind & once you control that the other will come. I was very impressed because that is so true. So I continued to push myself while repeating to myself, “no pain no gain or you can do it” through the last part of the workout. I’m really inpressed with the staff that we’ve come in contact with at the Forum & Boot Camp. It amazing that they’re already in shape but they’re so passionate about helping others. They don’t know us or the people that sign up to take their class. But they’re able to see things in us that we can’t see in ourselves. They push you to work out & assist you with the proper form, knowledge of what body part you’re focusing on. With that being said Reggie gave me something I really needed and that’s to believe in me.
My Goal:
I know I will commit to 1 day a week at the Forum. After 1 month I will add another day at the Forum. My goal is to work out 3 to 4 days a week. So I’ll workout 1 day at home. I was thinking about trying the Wii Fit. My son has a Wii and during the day when I’m there alone I can workout without being distracted. I’ll let you know how it goes. I missed my appt. At Emory last month so I’m not sure how much more weight I’ve lost, but I know its around 5 or 6 pounds. So I need to buckle down & get back on it. I would like to lose 2 to 3lbs a week. Talk to you guys soon. Melissa
